The king of Thailand ... Truly the King of Kings.
His Royal Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej [Rama IX]
Born: Cambridge - Massachusetts (USA), Date of Birth: 5th of December, 1927.
Kings of the current Chakri dynasty in Thailand are often referred to as Rama.
This is followed by a Roman ordinal for English translation.
The name Rama was adopted from the name of Hindu God (Rama IX).
His majesties Coronation was held in 1950, and had finalised his education in Switzerland,
He actually became King of Thailand on the 9th of June, 1946.
Sadly His Royal Highness passed away on the 13th of October 2016.
He will be sadly missed, by all his loyal subjects, of which I count myself as one...
I may not be from Thailand, but I recognise true greatness in people.
The Queen of Thailand ... Long may she Reign.
Her Royal Majesty Queen Sirikit
His Royal majesty met the aristocratic Mom Rajawongse Sirikit Kitiyakara.
She became HM Queen Sirikit. Queen Sirikit was born on August the 12th, 1932.
The King selected a boarding school for her in Lausanne, Riante Rive.
On the 19th July 1949 the couple were quietly engaged in Lausanne, and married on the 28th April 1950.
This was just one week before the royal coronation.
A true love that would span the decades of time.
The king and his beautiful bride to be, would go on to make the Thai people very proud.
The Royal Family
The countries original name was Siam up until June the 23rd 1939,
when it was changed to Thailand. It was again renamed Siam from
1945 to May the 11th 1949, after which it was again renamed Thailand.
Thai people sixty years on can still remember his Majesty's oath
of succession to the throne:
"We will reign with righteousness for the benefit and
happiness of the Siamese people."
The King kept his word..!
