Beijing Peaceful Apartment
If your going to Beijing, there is really only one place to
stay..!
My stay in Beijing was my third visit to
China. The stay was made most comfortable and relaxing
mainly by one person, the manager Carol...
( see Links)
Not only Carol, but all the staff seem to be just one big happy
family. I can not stress too much how well they all treat
you.
Beijing peaceful apartments are every bit of how they are
described, and the manager (Carol) is there to make sure you get
everything promised in their adverts.
She will help you in any way possible making sure you have clear
directions written in Chinese characters, because unfortunately
some people think pinyin is the written language, and it is not
...Pinyin is used to teach mandarin to none Chinese speakers, so
getting this right is very important.
Carol can arrange trips for you at very competitive prices, and
she is always available to give you advice on any market
purchases you may wish to make. She will tell you the prices
expected to pay, and I promise you, if you can haggle, you will
achieve that price, even if the asking price seems a long way
away, just keep haggling, even walk away, they will call you back
if they feel you won't pay their price. But don't haggle and then
change your mind and walk away, because this is not protocol, and
even if you feel they have become slightly irate with you, I can
assure you this is just part of a method, and you will eventually
get a smile,
(the smaller the smile, the better you bargained :-)
I offer a few cautions when living in China, and they would
include do not go tea tasting, as they may tell you it's just 50
yuan, but they don't tell you that's per cup!
Don't accept offered taxi rides when quoted a price, they will
rip you off. Stop a two tone taxi, and make sure he has a meter
before you get in, otherwise walk away.
Be very cautious on crossings, because the onus is upon you to
avoid them, not they avoid you, they do not stop! Except when the
green cross light is on, and even then this only applies to one
side of the road, and rarely includes bicycles, so be very
careful..!
There are other warnings, but if you have any doubts, please
contact me, and I will try to help you.
Have a pleasant trip, and please write and tell me your
experience.
