Yong Liu was a very talented poet, his works, unlike other poets, was a representation of lives of the common people.
Most of his work described landscape separation, and hardship of life reflecting the miserable life of prostitutes.
His life was not promising even though he was so talented in his time.
He was well known for his ''ci'', some people attributed his accomplishment to his licentious life.
Yong Liu's works, mostly are very emotional, and unlike most other poets, being served in government, because one of his works dissatisfied the emperor, so the emperor did not approved him to be a official. so his life was miserable since he was a talent. after his death, the singers and prostitutes buried him, some scholars despised him, all of these can not cover the brilliance of his works.
The translation:
An Autumn cicada, with sadness and isolation,
Faced the parting pavilion,
The shower just ceased,
At the city gate, I can not enjoy the drinking,
The magnolia boat urged me to depart, while
Both of us are speechless, and throats choke.
I will be thousand miles away, with mists and waves.
Sorrow and heartbreak come from the separation
I would linger longer affectionately,
Holding hands, looking at each other, since ever,
Both of us are speechless, throats are choked.
I will be thousands miles away, with waves and mists.
sorrow and heartbreak happens on parting time,
How can I bear the separation on this mid-Autumn day!
Where shall I wake up?
At the bank of willow, the breeze is blowing at dawn with the waning mood.
the beautiful scene, the happy time, to me,
a mirage, after I leave you.
Who could I speak to?
Although I have so much affection and passion toward you!!!
